How Do I Optimize My Product Feed so AI Shopping Tools Actually Show My Products?

The short answer

AI shopping tools like Google AI Mode and ChatGPT read the same Merchant Center feed your Shopping ads use, so a clean feed gets you shown there too. Lead the title with your main keyword, fill every attribute, write a real description, use a valid GTIN, and real photos. Thin feeds get skipped. ZenoX runs Google Ads for 200+ ecom brands, and the feed is our first fix.

One feed, every surface

AI shopping tools like Google AI Mode and ChatGPT shopping pull product data from the same place your regular Shopping ads do: your Merchant Center feed. That feed is the main input every AI shopping surface reads, so whatever is missing or wrong in it is missing or wrong everywhere an AI tool might show your product. Some platforms also let you submit a feed to them directly, but the clean, complete Merchant Center feed is what does the heavy lifting.

That means feed quality is not just a Shopping ads job anymore. It is the input that decides whether an AI tool can even understand what you sell, let alone recommend it.

ZenoX runs Google Ads for 200+ ecom brands, and the feed is the first thing we rebuild when we take on an account. It was always the Shopping input. Now it is the AI input too, which makes a sloppy feed twice as expensive as it used to be.

Write titles and descriptions AI can actually read

Structure titles with the main keyword first, then product type, key feature, and variant details like color or size. Cut fluff words like 'best' or 'trendy' that waste characters and get ignored anyway. A specific title like 'Women's Silk Pajama Set - Long Sleeve 100% Mulberry Silk' wins searches a vague one never will, whether a person or an AI system is reading it.

Write a real two to three paragraph description covering benefits, materials, and use cases in plain language, not copied straight from a supplier site. Original, specific text is what both AI systems and Google's own crawlers trust.

Fill every attribute, do not leave gaps

Color, size, gender, age group, and material let any system, human or AI, match your product to a specific search instead of a vague one. Missing attributes mean the system has to guess, and it often guesses wrong or skips the product entirely.

Use a real GTIN if your product has one. If you are a dropshipper with no real barcode, remove the GTIN field entirely rather than filling it with a fake number or your own SKU. A fake identifier causes disapprovals, which pulls the product out of every surface, AI included.

Use real product images

High resolution photos on a clean white or neutral background, centered, no watermarks, at least 800 by 800 pixels, are the standard that performs best across Shopping and AI surfaces alike. Lifestyle shots can work as extra angles, but they should not be the main image unless your niche clearly responds to them.

A thin or broken feed does not just hurt Shopping ads. It is the reason AI shopping tools have nothing solid to recommend in the first place.
